What You must know: The Maeght Fondation celebrates its 50th anniversary
On the occasion of its 50th anniversary, The Maeght Foundation organised several exhibitions that have started in April and will last until March 2015. The current summer exhibition, « In front of the work » (from June 28 to November 11 2014) offers artworks by artists of the 21st century but also from the private collection of Aimé Maeght, the founder died in 1981, and his team.
What you must have: A Wine bottle that combines ‘The Simpsons’ and Piet Mondrian’s artworks
Constantin Bolimond and Dmitry Patsukevich designed a wine bottle that refers to the famous and the timeless serie, “The Simpsons”. For the packaging of this bottle, the creators got inspired by Piet Mondrian’s work. The bottle is also available with the “Marge” version.
What you must see: Replica of Vincent van Gogh's ear by Diemut Strebe
The Dutch artist Diemut Strebe reconstituted with the collaboration of scientists, Van Gogh’s ear that was cut off by the painter, himself. Created from Vincent Van Gogh’s DNA and with a 3D printer,“Sugababe” is a living replica of the ear. It is even possible to speak to it through a microphone system! “I use science basically like a type of brush, like Vincent used paint”, said Diemut Strebe.

Barbara Hepworth: Sculpture for a Modern World has opened on the 24th June and is on until the 25th October 2015, featuring more than 100 works, from early carvings to the later works in bronze and wood. It also displays the personal photograph albums compiled with her second husband Ben Nicholson.
