What You must know: Liliane Bettencourt PRICE for the Intelligence of the hand was awarded to 3 winners


Tuesday, June 17, the 15th Liliane Bettencourt price for the Intelligence of the hand was awarded to three winners. The exception Talent Award, which distinguishes the excellence of a craftsman, was awarded to Nathanaël Le Berre for his artwork Infinity, while ceramist Gérard Borde and designer Marc Aurel were rewarded the Dialogues Award for their collaboration in the realization of Beirut chair. The Course Price, newly created by the Bettencourt Schueller Foundation to highlight exemplary personality sector of French craft was granted to director of the National Center of Art glass of Meisenthal Yann Grienenberger. Each of € 50,000, the three awards are now complemented by support up to € 100,000 per winner for the implementation of their projects. Author of the photographic series "Paris in Motion", Mayeul Akpovi makes this time honor to the city of Lyon with a beautiful time lapse. After 4 videos dedicated to Paris, this African origin photographer still did a job of titan: 3 days of shooting (early June) and 8000 shots for a timelapse. The Nathalie Du Pasquier for American Apparel collection includes womenswear, menswear and accessories in minimalistic shapes covered in colourful, graphic prints. Du Pasquier was a core member of the Milan-based Memphis Group that pioneered post-modern furniture and fabric design in the 1980s, but has since nurtured a career as an artist. She was approached by American Apparel creative director Iris Alonzo who asked her to create prints similar to those she designed during the Memphis era.
