What You must know: BILL VIOLA @ THE ST PAUL'S CATHEDRAL OF LONDON
« Martyrs (Earth, Air, Fire, Water) », a video work by Bill Viola, was inaugurated, Wednesday May 21, at the St Paul's Cathedral of London. This work which would have cost nearly 2 million dollars to its sponsor, is broadcast by four screens, behind the large altar of the Cathedral. The characters represented undergo the unleashing of the natural elements, in a pose that evokes the resignation of martyrs.
