What You must know: CÉLESTE BOURSIER-MOUGENOT, WINNER FOR THE VENICE BIENNALE

Céleste Boursier-Mougenot will represent the France at the 56th Venice Biennale in may 2015. He has been named finalist, with Tatiana Trouvé, among the thirty-five delivered proposals, following the call for projects launched by the french Institute, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture. The artist, known for his sound installations, has designed an experimental project for the french Pavilion. Winner of the David for Contemporary Art Prize in 2009, nominated for the Marcel Duchamp Prize in 2010, Céleste Boursier-Mougenot has recently exhibited at the Abattoirs of Toulouse and he currently has a solo show at the Parvis, Scène Nationale, at Tarbes. What you must see: ROBERT HEINECKEN @ WIELS

 

 

Despite rarely using a camera during his career, Robert Heinecken (1931–2006) is widely considered one of the most influential post-war American photographers. The exhibition at WIELS examines a pivotal period in the artist's career, during which Heinecken used a Polaroid SX-70 camera. The presentation includes the first examples of works using this medium, starting in the mid-1970s until his most iconic project, the series Lessons in Posing Subjects, dating from 1981–82, and presented here in its entirety.
